Our Planning Service is fundamental to the success of the council’s ambition for a sustainable future, and we are passionate on leading on the climate and ecological emergencies in the area. From our urban extension of Cirencester currently under development to the development of Cotswold Airport in Kemble, our focus is to enable our communities in the Cotswold district and beyond to thrive, creating great places for people to live, work, learn and enjoy in our ever-evolving communities.
We want our future generations to thrive too and are serious in tackling issues concerning the climate and environmental emergencies. Now is a fantastic time to be joining us. We are looking to deliver upon our council priorities and shape our environment for the benefit of the local area and beyond.
The role will include providing technical expertise, advice, and direction to internal and external customers in relation to Planning Enforcement matters, including identifying and investigating breaches of planning control, and to deal with planning applications resulting from Planning Enforcement investigations in a timely manner.
You will have involvement in all aspects of processing a wide variety of enforcement cases, dealing with applicants, agents and members of the public, within a vibrant, varied and well-motivated team environment.
You will be responsible for making robust, sound judgements in relation to Planning Enforcement matters and to lead in pursuing formal enforcement action when necessary, including appeals and prosecution proceedings.
The complexity of the work will reflect the experience, competencies and qualifications of the successful candidate. Ultimately we are looking for an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer but we would also welcome applications from candidates looking to step up in their career.
Here is what one of the team members says:
“Our Enforcement Officers have a fantastic work ethic with a ‘can-do’ attitude, evidenced by their recent push to significantly reduce each enforcement officer’s caseload despite labouring with a reduced team. My personal experience whilst at Cotswold District Council has been one of opportunity and progression.
