JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

SOMETHING ABOUT ME

I’m a man in my early 50s and have Down’s syndrome with some physical and mental disabilitys. I live with my elderly mother at home in Hawthorn.

I am a happy chap who enjoys meeting people, having a chat and a little banter. I enjoy going to Pontypridd Rugby and I am their number one supporter. I have a season ticket and after the match I enjoy going to the club house with the guys. Six Nations is also one of my favourite things to watch.

I like Irish country music, ten pin bowling and having a meal at McDonald’s. when opportunity allows I like going to music concerts and down to Cardiff Bay for a few hours.

Male PA required due to personal care needs.

PLACE OF WORK

Accompanying me in the local community.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of this job is to provide respite for my family, whilst also helping me remain as active to enjoy my hobbies out and about in the community and keep me safe.

HOURS OF WORK

Hours per week to be confirmed which can be used flexibly.

RATE OF PAY

£10.50 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

Providing support with personal care when out and about
Safety is of priority
Supporting me to keep me safe at all times when accompanying in the community
Car required, with valid driver’s license
Support me when attending my local club

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

Experience of Down’s Syndrome (personal or professional)
Mature by nature
Someone who is calm and patient
Someone who is positive and encouraging
You must be reliable and flexible
Someone who has a good sense of humour
Driver with own car and business class insurance.

ABOUT THE JOB

Employment is subject to standard processes including PAYE and contributions to income tax and national insurance. Employment will be offered pending satisfactory references and DBS check. I can offer you a 6-month trial period to begin with. Wages will be paid by 4 weekly BACS transfer. You will receive appropriate holidays, holiday pay and access to a pension scheme if required.
