A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The Trust is seeking a consultant general adult psychiatrist with particular expertise and interest in urgent care psychiatry to join Bolton’s Home-Based Treatment Team. The vacancy will arise as a result of the current post holder retiring. The Trust regards this as an opportune moment to develop the functioning of the team. The post holder will provide senior medical input into the clinical care of patients under the care of the Home-Based Treatment Team. The post holder would work with adults of working age (18 years and upwards). Any clients aged 16 and 17 would be medically managed by locality CAMHS. The ratio of new and follow up clients vary considerably depending on the case load and clinical needs of the client group at that time To provide medical support and supervision to the HBTT, completing second line specialist assessment and medical treatment where appropriate, supported by other members of the multidisciplinary team. To be able to diagnose and formulate management plans in complex and emergency cases, advising the HBTT multidisciplinary team and other involved parties on appropriate integrated care. To be able to assess and manage risk (e.g. suicide risk, violence/aggression, vulnerability and neglect) relating to psychiatric conditions in community settings. Understanding the interface between physical illness and mental illness (e.g. comorbid mood disorders, medically unexplained symptoms, organic mental states) when formulating management plans. Prescribing and giving advice to the HBTT on psychotropic medication. Participate fully in clinical meetings within the Bolton HBTT. Participate fully in business meetings within the Bolton HBTT, including setting goals and targets for the team according to local and national drivers. Work closely with the other team members to develop and maintain a high quality, responsive, flexible and integrated service meeting the needs of its client group. As a medical expert to be able to take a lead on service development for all adults with mental illnesses within the HBTT. This will necessitate excellent influencing and joint working skills.
