Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, and experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial equipment.

Reporting to and supporting the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of machinery and facilities to minimise downtime and improve overall efficiency within our warehouse.

The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

Salary: £35,000 + per annum, dependent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance:
● Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
● Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
● Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in mechanical and electrical systems.

Repair and Replacement:
● Execute repairs on faulty equipment, machinery, or systems promptly.
● Replace defective components or parts as needed.
● Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of spare parts.

Preventive Maintenance:
● Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and report any unusual findings to the Maintenance Manager.

Facility Maintenance:
● Monitor and maintain the overall condition of the facility.
● Address any issues related to plumbing, HVAC, lighting, etc.
● Coordinate with external service providers for specialised maintenance tasks.

Safety Compliance:
● Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols while performing maintenance tasks.
● Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions.

Documentation:
● Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
● Generate reports on equipment status and maintenance trends.

Collaboration:
● Coordinate with production and operations teams to schedule maintenance activities that minimise disruptions.
● Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding maintenance issues and updates.

Skill and Qualifications

● Qualified to NVQ/ apprenticeship level or equivalent within the relevant field; additional technical training or certifications are an advantage
● Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, (3 years minimum).
● Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
● Familiarity with industrial equipment and systems.
● The confidence to respond positively when under pressure
● Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
● Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
● The ability to take the initiative as and when required.
● Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to work in compliance with safety regulations.
