About the Role

Central Milton Keynes Medical Centre (CMK Medical Centre) is looking for a committed and enthusiastic GP to join our busy practice due to rising list size and GP retirement.Long term, we are looking for the successful candidate to join us as a partner but the role will initially be recruited to on a salaried contract (with a view to partnership).  We are looking for 6 sessions, possibly 8.

Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to support and care for a diverse patient group.  The role will include all general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, including/as well as:

• Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion, duty GP and triage GP.
• Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation;
• Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems;
• Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness;
• Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols;
• Providing health education;
• Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards;
• Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements;
• Delivering enhanced services;
• Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions;
• All general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications:

• Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
• Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  
• Be on the NHSE medical performers list

and skills, including:

• Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;
• Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
• Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
• Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.
  

About Us

We are a busy urban practice consisting of 7 partners, 4 salaried GPs, 2 registrars, a pharmacist and 4 practice nurses, a diabetes specialist nurse and 4 HCAs. We believe that we provide a choice of personal care, with a wide range of medical interests. In line with modern practices we use a comprehensive computer service which is now a key tool in patient care, record keeping, prescribing and preventative medicine.

We have a current list of 21,000 patients and are are in the East:MK PCN group with three other practices who we have a good relationship and work together to improve access and health inequalities. One of our partners is the clinical director.  We work closely together for the benefit of the patients, alongside our PCN/ARRS team who support us with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, ICST nurse, health & wellbeing coaches, social prescribers, care co-ordinator, first contact practitioners, mental health support workers and other additional services with CAB and Arthur Ellis.
