Job description
A valuable Public Sector client of ours is looking for a Policy and External Affairs Manager to provide policy and external affairs support to the chief executive and the councils leadership team. Paying a salary of £50,500 per annum on a permanent contract, the role has a hybrid working pattern with a minimum of three days a week on site/as required.
Main Duties
- To act as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive and Leadership Team building positive and effective relationships across the council and beyond
- Ensure effective communication with senior councillors and external stakeholders
- To understand the Chief Executive’s priorities and ensure the Chief Executive’s time and capacity is used to maximum effect, making sound judgements, taking action, escalating and prioritising in accordance with changing business needs
- To ensure the effective handling of all correspondence received via any means by the Chief Executive’s Office
- To work with a high degree of autonomy and initiative, independently providing policy support including briefings, special projects, research etc
- To organise events with stakeholders and the workforce to a professional standard
- To make a significant contribution to the effective governance of the council and delivery of key corporate priorities
- To manage Personal / Executive Assistants who support the Leadership Team
- To manage and supervise employees in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures and management competencies
- Such variations as may be required from time to time without changing the general character of the duties shown above or the level of responsibility entailed
