Royal Holloway is looking to appoint an Assistant Director of Information Technology on a fixed term (maternity cover) basis.

This is a strategic role, ensuring the effective implementation of one of our underpinning workstreams, containing several important University-wide infrastructure-related projects, aligned with the University vision and strategy. The role will be supported by a Project Manager, but will be required to lead the teams through the initiation phases and informing the pre-market engagement exercises for these projects, ensuring effective decision-making. Whilst there are several projects in this workstream, the focus will be on some key areas such as data centre relocation, major cyber security related improvements, identity and access management and the design phase of our major network re-design programme.

As a whole, the department is responsible for the delivery of major IT-enabled transformation, and to achieve this, has 4 workstreams, each led by a member of the IT senior management team, to deliver across strategic themes.

In addition, the post-holder will manage the core operational IT services of the University.

This is a significant moment in the history of the university. It is one in which we are seeking to shape a future that is as brave, bold and pioneering as the principles which were at the heart of our two founding colleges, Bedford and Royal Holloway, which opened to enable women’s education in 1849 and 1879 respectively. If you have the right experience, skills and track record of success and share our passion and ambition, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. However, the post holder may be required to work at any of the locations where Royal Holloway’s business is conducted, including our central London sites.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

This is a fixed term post to cover a period of maternity leave for 13 months. This appointment could end earlier than expected should the substantive post-holder return to work early.
