The Development Management and Flood and Water Management Team in requires a highly motivated Principal Development Management Officer .
Reporting to the Development Planning Manager/ Project Manager (Minerals and Waste) you will be able to work under your own initiative, with limited supervision, and manage your time and workload.
Your main focus will be as a development management case officer for planning applications, including major applications and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submitted to Hampshire County Council. Proposals will include county council developments such as highway schemes, residential (social care), schools and development on other council owned land such as country parks, as well as minerals and waste developments. The role will include attendance at the Planning Regulatory Committee. Having the required qualifications, you will have a detailed knowledge of development management practices, policies and procedures. The role is critical to supporting the development management service. There may also be some caseload for our Traded Planning Services contracts.
You will also have excellent IT and communication skills as well as good political awareness and project and personal management skills. You will need be confident in dealing with the public, other public bodies, industry representatives and relevant specialists and have the ability to ensure that a good quality customer service is provided to all customers.
You may also be required to work flexibly across other areas of the section and the wider Waste and Environmental Service’s branch, particularly in relation to its planning and other environmental functions.
Whilst this role is predominately office based, you would be expected to undertake site visits and attend meetings at other locations.
