A top Specialist School in Swindon are looking for a strong graduate to undertake a position as a Learning Support Assistant full-time starting as soon as possible. The role will involve working closely with pupil’s age 11 to 19 who have Autism as their primary special educational need and help support them throughout the school day so they can receive the best education possible. If you can make the classroom a fun and exciting place then the students want to hear from you!
Your day-to-day will involve supporting the students whilst following the guidance of the class teacher. You will provide both 1:1 support and small group support, helping to boost the students’ numeracy and literacy understanding, as well as their general communication and their life skills. If you are creative, you will be able to help plan and run exciting and engaging lessons, making the classroom a fun and exciting place to learn.
By working with students with special educational needs, specifically Autism, you will gain first-hand experience necessary to pursue a career as a Psychologist, Counsellor, Therapist, Social Worker or Teacher. The role will help further your understanding of cognition, development and communication – and you will be helping young people along the way!
The perfect candidate will be…
* A recent university graduate (Psychology, Counselling, Health & Social Care or Criminology would be ideal!)
* Passionate, with a love of learning/education
* Understanding and empathetic
* Experienced working with children and/or adults with special educational needs
* Resilient and ready for a challenge
* Living in or near Swindon
The role will be term-time only, Monday to Friday. You will be in the school from 8:30am to 3:30pm and earn £75 to £80 per day, depending on experience. The fantastic school is in a lovely area in Reading with on-site parking and easy access to train and bus routes so getting there will be easy.
