Job description
We are currently seeking a Product Manager to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Alton. The primary focus of this role is to continue building a strong brand reputation through quality, reliable products and technologies, through supplier engagement and a customer-driven methodical approach. Key responsibilities includes range control, sourcing strategy, reducing risk, market trends, product briefing and range performance, maintaining and developing strong supplier relationships.
Key duties and responsibilities...
Product Development
- Ensure that all product development activity aligns with and meets the needs of the sales team and the market, ensure development opportunities are validated.
- Manage the Product Development budget, keeping strict control over expenditure
- Oversee and manage a the product development pipeline, driven by both customer demand and technological and innovation opportunities.
- Manage product range including identifying potential new products, conducting market research, generating product briefs, presenting options, overseeing launch timetable, pricing and timebound plans for production and delivery.
- Work closely with Marketing to help develop marketing strategies and communications for newly developed products to ensure maximum market penetration and fast sales take off.
- Work closely with Sales to support with technical product knowledge, range consolidations, product trials and gathering market feedback.
- Research and stay up to date on the market, competitors products and launches, services and trends.
- Thorough and consistent competitor analysis, keeping a strong assessment of the market
- Have a customer-driven approach, taking product from initial idea to launch, maximising opportunity for volume and profit.
- Demonstrate an agile and dynamic mindset, ready to embrace change and timeline demands.
- Deliver on projects through a ‘big picture’ approach to the brand and relentless focus on delivery to the timeline agreed.
- Support brand expansion plans into new markets with a compliant product range aligned to sales revenue objectives
Sourcing
- Build a detailed sourcing strategy to deliver the Business Plan and deliver within the agreed timeline.
- Work closely with Suppliers to ensure products meet quality and compliance / technical standards, procure pre-production samples, and work through any product challenges which may arise
- To oversee receipt and despatch of product development samples and development materials to and from our factory partners
Sustainability
- Stay ahead and up to date with market trends & requirements in sustainability
- Regularly visit key suppliers to capture new initiatives, new opportunities to ensure brand retains leadership with sustainable initiatives/ opportunities
- Provide key messages/direction/into Marketing Manager to ensure we communicate key brand strengths and positioning
Compliance
- Ensure Product legal regulatory compliance to all relevant geographical requirements
- Operate business process and structure to ensure the brand is always protected
- Your role includes product range control by geographical region depending on legal and regulatory compliance requirements
- Compliance is critical to business values, and the role of compliance is pivotal to Brand values
- A regular quarterly review / risk assessment of in-date certification compliance and should be reported on the quarterly QBR meeting.
Requirements
- Experience in a Product Management role
- Ideally experience within PPE
- Knowledge of legal regulatory compliance
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Analysis and research skills

- Hours : Full-time Monday – Friday 8.00am- 16.30pm
- Hybrid role consisting, ideally 4 days per week in the office, 1 day work from home.
