The Financial Controller owns the financial accounting and reporting process for the Tamworth site, providing strategic information and insights to the management team to support effective decision making & overseeing and monitoring an effective compliance and control environment.

Key accountabilities:
Site Finance Leadership
- Be a visible leader across the site & the business who promotes and “lives” the Group’s values and culture.
- Partner with the Tamworth Plant Director, providing good information, insights and challenge enabling better decision making & the ability to run the Tamworth site in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
- Strategic projects – play a leading role in the transformation of the Tamworth site, including potential for new business wins & new operational setup.
- Ensure the integrity of financial reporting by demonstrating diligence & independence & maintaining a strong control environment.
- Take ownership of product costings on site, investigating any deviations from standard and promoting corrective action
- Take ownership of site overheads with spend category owners, managing to budgets and adjusting expectations in line with volumes, investigating any deviations from target and promoting corrective action.
- Manage the timely and high-quality delivery of the period-end financial close process.
- Drive the implementation of global accounting policies and procedures, leveraging enabling technologies.
- Drive compliant and effective operation of taxation and treasury activities, notably cash management.
- Lead the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring appropriate and efficient processes and procedures and positively impacting working capital balances.
- Periodic forecasting and planning activities, including leading the annual budget process.
- Manage relationship with the auditors and ensure GAAP/ IFRS compliance.
- Coordinate internal and external financial reporting requirements to the Group, statutory authorities, and other key stakeholders.
Finance Function
- Implement consistent standards and efficient ways of working across the Finance team.
- Motivate, coach and develop the team; build capability and succession plans.
- Support the Group’s ambition to deliver a best-in-class Finance function globally.
- Work with the IPL Europe Finance team across all sites to deliver a high performing, consistent & insightful finance solution for the total European business which demonstrates the right behaviours.
- Play a leading role in the maximising the use & effectiveness of the current ERP system and implementing new systems into the future.
- Work with Central teams to streamline reporting solutions using ERP, Power BI & Excel solutions.
Additional information (including specialized qualifications/ skills)
- A proven Financial Controller with an excellent record of financial and operational achievement in driving accuracy, efficiency and controls
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Change management experience with ability to lead key projects. System implementations and integration experience advantageous
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to quickly command the confidence and respect of the management team
- Passion and commitment with high personal integrity and a practical, pragmatic and hardworking ethic
- Highly analytical with the ability to delve into the detail to drive improvements in the business.
- Practical with a positive “can do” attitude.
- Good understanding of IFRS and local standards
- Fluency in English language skills
- Qualified accountant with at least 10 years’ PQE
