Job Title: Swimming Teacher
The Stamford Schools are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Swimming Teacher to join our dedicated team. As a Swimming Teacher, you will play a vital role in fostering a love for swimming, promoting water safety, and helping students develop essential aquatic skills.
The SES Sports Centre opened its doors to students, staff and affiliated groups in April 2012. The £6.1 million facility includes a state-of-the-art fitness suite, 25m indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and a hospitality area. There is also a large south facing spectator terrace covered by an overhanging roof, giving supporters of sports teams a prime view of the main sports pitches. The School runs a successful and popular Swim School which has recently moved to the main Sports Centre from the Junior School site.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Make sure the swimming lessons operate within the Stamford School Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plan and in line with the risk assessment controls.
- Ensure the swimming lessons start and finish at the correct time.
- Adhere to the standards set by the Swim School Principal. This involves ensuring students are in the correct class to match their standard.
- Assist staff in identifying an individual’s needs and ensure these needs are met, providing additional support as required.
- Oversee the smooth transfer of a pupil from one class to another.
- Communicate regularly with all teaching staff to ensure the smooth running of the Swim School.
- Make sure you are following the ‘learn to swim framework’ and assist in issuing certificates when necessary.
- Identify and encourage gifted pupils to progress further into higher levels and follow the pathway from lessons to the aquatic skills where necessary.
- Attend mandatory staff training sessions and to keep to the required number of training hours set in the NOP to ensure any NPLQ training hours are maintained. CPD’s must be kept up to date and maintained.
Requirements:
- Level 2 Swim England qualification in teaching swimming. STA qualifications may also be accepted.
- A proven record of personal development and regular attendance at training.
- Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including ?rst aid and standard resuscitation measures.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations governing conduct of the public and school children at swimming pools.
- Understanding of COSHH regulations and Health and Safety in respect of swimming pools.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with fellow colleagues and members of the public.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- To be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate others.
- Flexible attitude towards working arrangements.
- Commitment to customer service.

We can offer permanent positions with set weekly hours. Hours of work are likely to be up to 10 hours per week. This role attracts a pay rate of £18.37 per hour.
