Role: Senior Scientific Advisor (Principal Scientist), Permanent 

Direct Report: VP, Head of ADME, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Sciences

Hours:  Full time, 37.5 hours per week 

Salary:  Excellent salary dependent on skills and experience, excellent benefits package plus annual bonuses

As well as supporting clients directly, we have a strong focus on R&D.

The Role of Senior Scientific Advisor (Principal Scientist)

As a Senior Scientific Advisor, you will be working closely with other members of the ADME teams supporting both commercial and R&D projects, engaging with external partners and driving and developing opportunities for collaboration and partnership. In addition, as a visible leader across the business, utilizing excellent communication, organizational and technical skills, you will support the training and development of staff, improving the ADME teams’ knowledge and processes.

Key Responsibilities  

• To be a senior point of contact across the ADME teams providing scientific guidance and technical support to senior team members.
• Provides support to other team and functional leaders with technical calls and new client opportunities.
• Identifies and drives cross-group (function) opportunities for R&D, new service development and new technology assessment.
• Supports design of ADME data interpretation tools and strategy.
• Works alongside the Cyprotex Senior Leadership and Business development teams to engage with potential and existing external partners to build relationships and promote Cyprotex’s services.
• Contributes to training of staff and acts as a coach and mentor across teams, working with individuals or teams where additional scientific or leadership support may be required.
• Acts as subject matter expert across ADME providing technical expertise and support across Cyprotex and Evotec sites in accordance with VP.
• Contributes to cross-functional collaboration with other Principal Scientists
• Keeps up to date with scientific literature advances, developments, and regulatory guidelines in the area of ADME and informs the teams of relevant developments.
• To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.
• To be responsible for managing and coordinating multiple projects/activities within the group with a results-driven approach.
• To proactively take the initiative to improve processes and make efficiency gains in assays.
• To encourage a continuous improvement culture and to manage projects to completion.
• To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring QC procedures are strictly adhered to.
• To participate in internal and external partner meetings as and when required.
• To ensure appropriate Health and Safety procedures are always followed in the workplace.

Education, Qualifications and Experience  

• Extensive experience working within a DMPK environment, designing and scoping routine and more mechanistic assays to characterise DMPK properties, in addition to providing data interpretation and context is essential. Experience in developing DMPK strategies and engaging with external stakeholders is preferable.
• BSc/MSc, or higher, in relevant field.
• Line management and/or direct coaching, mentoring experience.
• Knowledge of general laboratory processes, experience with laboratory automation and analytical technology is advantageous
• Strong communication and leadership skills to organise and collaborate cross-team efforts to deliver high quality scientific projects in fast-paced environment.
