Assistant Curator

The National Museum Directors' Council

Location

Carlisle, Cumbria | United Kingdom

Job description

The “Be Just & Fear Not” partnership (Carlisle United FC, Tullie, Cumberland Council, University of Cumbria and Carlisle United Community Sports Trust) are recruiting an Assistant Curator to support with on the development of a major exhibition and pop-up tour. In what is an important anniversary year for Carlisle United, 50 years since achieving promotion to the First Division for the 1974-75 season, the club is working together with partners on a project to celebrate and preserve its legacy. The project has been made possible thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The project, entitled “Be Just and Fear Not”: Celebrating our Club and Supporting our Community, aims to better document and share the club's history and expand its reach to new and diverse audiences through a programme of community engagement, exhibitions and a review of the Club’s archive alongside a dedicated team of volunteers.

This is an ideal role for someone looking for an early-career role within the museum sector. Prior knowledge of Carlisle United FC isn’t essential but a passion for learning about the Club is a must!

The post would be employed by Tullie.
