Job description

• To assume a leading role in clinical practice.
• To utilise advanced clinical skills, theoretical knowledge and expertise to enhance the quality of the neonatal service in the hospital and community environment, referring to other professionals as needed.
• To lead and promote evidence based practice and be an advocate for the neonate and family.
• To deliver specialist education and training to the MDT.
• To engage in audit and quality initiatives, contributing to the development and improvement of the clinical services.
• This is a designated Non-Medical Prescribing Post.

A Registered Nurse / Midwife with an established neonatal nursing background who has successfully completed a period of formal education at postgraduate level on a recognised ANNP programme.Able to exercise independent judgement in the assessment and diagnosis of neonatal conditions.Needs to establish an appropriate course of action in order to initiate effective treatment and facilitate ongoing medical management of neonatal conditions using agreed protocols and guidelines.Adjusts management plans as required in view of the results of laboratory and radiological investigations.Promotes, implements and evaluates effective evidence-based practice.

We are looking to recruit a qualified Advanced neonatal nurse practitioner to come and join us on our level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The unit cares for650babies a year and has 7 high dependency, 9 intensive care and 19 special care cots. We Provide complex intensive care and utilise advanced technologies for new-born babies. With a Nursing team structured to facilitate and enhance a supportive culture. We have range of nursing roles within the unit from Band 4 Assistant Practitioners to Band 8a ANNPs.

There is a Neonatal Education team and Neonatal Outreach Service, caring for babies from both NNU and the Post-natal wards. The team operates 7 days/ week for 365 days /year passion for their role and improving patient care When working clinically we expect you to perform with passion and drive, provide clinically excellent care, and be supportive to patients, relatives, and other MDT members. As an Advanced neonatal Nurse practitioner you will be expected to promote and lead the delivery of an excellent standard of patient centred care in a supported environment.
