Intro:
This is an exciting time to be in Barnet. The borough is London’s most populous, with around 400,000 residents, over 23,000 businesses, 130,000 jobs and 30 town centres and high streets – the most of any borough in London. Barnet’s new Local Plan and Growth Strategy direct significant future housing growth towards Barnet’s network of town centres.

This provides an unrivalled opportunity to deliver not just housing but sustainable, mixed-use communities that address the challenges faced by high streets, support economic growth, and deliver a range of environmental, health and well-being outcomes.

About the Role:
The Council and the Town Centres team follow a place-based approach to town centre regeneration; we have a team of dedicated officers focussing on individual, key town centres, engaging with the local business and resident community, gaining an in-depth knowledge of the area, scoping, commissioning and delivering projects that will most impact the specific centre.

As a result of this place-based approach the Town Centres team has a diverse portfolio of regeneration projects and needs high calibre project and programme management who has an appreciation of place and can help shape and deliver projects. Project development and delivery also require close working and collaboration with other council teams, peers, service colleagues, partners and stakeholders. Officers are expected to model and maintain the council’s values and behaviours, inspiring others.

The Town Centres team are currently looking for an individual to lead on the teams projects in North Finchley Town Centre, including; an interim public realm improvement works project, a larger scale public realm piloting scheme, a community events programme, and a public realm design framework.  This is an exciting and varied role that puts the individual in charge of managing some of the team’s key schemes.

The individual in question will be flexible, highly motivated and enthusiastic, inspiring others around them and aiming to bring about change for the better.  The majority of the projects are ongoing, so the role will also require someone who is able to pick up new projects quickly and enjoys a challenge.
