School Nurse – to start as soon as possible

King Henry VIII Senior & Junior Schools

Permanent, part time, term time only

Working 2.5 days per week, days to be agreed and occasional Saturday mornings will be required.

We are looking for a registered nurse (part 8 or part 15 of the NMC register) with relevant post-registration experience to join our team at King Henry VIII Schools. You will be responsible for dealing with medical situations and emergencies throughout both the King Henry Senior & Junior Schools (age 3 - 18) and liaising regularly with the Deputy Head Pastoral on medical and pastoral matters. You will support pupils and staff with known medical conditions, administering medication as per care plans and guidance, keep clear and precise medical records and implement school policies and procedures in the case of illness including contacting staff, parents and other medical professionals. You will ensure that the First Aid boxes throughout the school are stocked and contribute to INSET training, the Life Choices programmes and other events where appropriate.

You will be a registered nurse and have relevant post-registration experience in either a school based or child focused nursing role. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to interact with people at all levels, combining confidence and assertiveness in a calm, courteous and professional manner ensuring that all visitors to the Health Centre are helped and reassured. You will be able to prioritise and manage situations under pressure responding calmly, quickly and willingly to urgent and unexpected requests.
