Job Title: Finance Manager/Accountant
Location: Okehampton - Hybrid 1-2 days in the office
Hours: Full-time; Monday - Friday 08.30am -17.00pm
Contract: 10-month FTC to cover maternity leave
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 Per Annum (Dependent on experience)
Acorn by Synergie is excited to be recruiting an experienced Finance Manager / Accountant to join an innovative Engineering company on a 10-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
Scope of the role:
- Assist and support the finance and payroll function for the holding company and four subsidiaries.
Main responsibilities include:
Finance
- Cash Forecast - updating regularly and submitting weekly.
- Quarterly VAT Returns & updating VAT Tracker
- Bank Payments & Reconciliation
- Credit Card Management
- Raising Purchase Orders, Liaising with Suppliers, Placing Orders
- Supplier Invoices/Credit Notes - recording, inputting into Sage & ensuring payments are made.
- Sales Invoices / Credit Notes - raising, inputting into Sage & ensuring payments are received.
- Assisting with costings, quotations, and proposals
- Processing Grant Claims and assisting with costings and applications.
- Managing Debtor & Creditor Accounts
- Journal Entries - Accruals, Pre-Payments, Depreciation, Interest Charges, Deferred income, Holiday Accruals, Overtime Accruals, Work In Progress, Project Charges, Direct & Non-Direct Labour
- Month End Accounts - Trial Balance reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Trial Balance to Management Account reporting
- Intercompany Invoicing and reconciliation
- Employee Expenses
- Stock Control / Management of Fixed Asset Register
- Timesheet Management
Payroll:
- Monthly Payroll Submission (Sage Payroll)
- Ensuring Overtime and Overseas payments are included.
- Pension Payments, Deductions
- New Starters / Leavers
- HMRC Payments
- Holiday Calendar (Excel & Sage Payroll)
- Maintain Staff Files - liaising with the HR department.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Timesheets analysis - Employee hours/costs against projects
- Project Reports - Profit or Loss analysis
- Labour Reports
- R&D Reports - help assist with R&D tax claims.
Projects/yearly:
- Year end audit preparation, managing audit questions.
- Year-end Accounts
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
- Extensive practical experience of management accounting and bookkeeping
- AAT Qualification or equivalent
- Excellent administrative and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite (including Excel, Outlook and SharePoint)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organised and proactive approach
- Ability to manage own workload effectively
- Work to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
- Problem solving
- Must hold a valid driving license and own transport as there will be the need for occasional travel to site
- Previous experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment would be advantageous but not essential.
