Job description


The Wokingham Community Older Adults Mental Health Service is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and highly motivated Senior Mental Health Practitioner (Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist)to join our friendly and innovative Home Treatment Team (HTT).

This is a developmental role- the successful candidate will initially join the team as a B5 Mental Health Practitioner and progress to a B6 following 18 months in supported practice and successful demonstration of competence.

Your base would be Wokingham Community Hospital where we have access to free parking facilities, staff room and a friendly and welcoming team. There is also the opportunity to work remotely, and a balance of office and home would be encouraged.

The normal rota hours are either 9-5pm or 11-7pm, including weekend shifts which are 9-3pm usually once a month (Appropriate supervision will be provided for weekend cover). We would also welcome candidates who may wish to work long days / and or work their shifts flexibly across the week. There will be the opportunity for NHSP overtime to cover sickness and leave.

The successful candidate must display a passion and understanding for working with Older People, but appropriate training and support will be provided as needed.

You must be enthusiastic, caring and highly motivated to contribute towards maintaining standards of high-quality care to our patients. In our latest CQC inspection we achieved ‘Outstanding’ and therefore the successful candidate would be expected to work towards helping the service maintain these accolades of high standards

The post holder will be well supported and guided by our Clinical Lead and HTT Lead as necessary and have day to day responsibility for their own allocated caseload and HTT caseload. They will act as a keyworker assessing the patient’s needs and providing high quality mental health interventions appropriate to the individual, including care management.

1.Have the relevant professional qualification (Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist)withcommunitybasedclinical mental health experience
2.Passion and understandingwithworking with Older People
3.Good understanding of the relevant legislation surrounding the Mental Capacity Act / Mental Health Act
4.The ability to assess risk in both routine and urgent situations
5.Be a car driver with the ability and readiness totravel
