Transport Compliance Manager - West Sussex
On behalf of our client we are looking for a Transport Compliance Manager to oversee a sizable fleet of class 2 vehicles and vans. Based in West Sussex, this dynamic role requires efficient management, ensuring timely compliance with all Health & Safety and Transport regulations at a cost-effective pace.
Responsibilities: - Manage and motivate the fleet and drivers, ensuring tachograph compliance, monitoring driver hours, and handling recruitment and disciplinary procedures.
- Liaise with drivers on day-to-day operations, serving as the point of contact for transport compliance issues.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance, including servicing, repairs, MOT, road tax, and PMI's, exploring in-house vs. 3rd-party repair options.
- Review and update processing documents, collaborating closely with depot Operations Managers.
- Collaborate with in-house maintenance teams and external providers for efficient repairs and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with UK transportation regulations through regular audits and collaboration with authorities.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, provide training, and investigate/report accidents or incidents.
Documentation, Reporting, and Vendor Management:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and compliance activities.
- Generate reports for the Director on key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with external vendors for cost-effective and high-quality maintenance and compliance services.
Role Requirements:
- Hold an up-to-date Manager's CPC and ideally an Operator Licence.
- Possess a full UK driver's licence and demonstrate success in a transport/distribution environment.
- Plan multiple vehicles for legal compliance, display a proactive and tenacious problem-solving approach.
- Excellent communication, computer, and numerical skills.
- Flexibility in operational working hours with commercial awareness.
