You will underwriting across all products but with a focus on corporate loans. You will work with brokers, setting up deals for payment, managing credit exposure to existing clients, and occasionally assisting with arrears.

K3279 - New Leaf Search has partnered with fast growing independent own book lender in its search for an Underwriter, Short Term loans. You will underwriting across all products but with a focus on corporate loans. You will work with brokers, setting up deals for payment, managing credit exposure to existing clients, and occasionally assisting with arrears.
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits. Location: UK, NW London (Office)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Underwrite new business applications and deliver timely credit decisions within guidelines and in accordance with Credit policy.
Provide commercially balanced recommendations to colleagues where new business applications are above the Underwriter’s credit mandate.
Drive continuous improvement activity challenging processes and procedures to deliver optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Communicate effectively with internal colleagues/departments and external customers.
Responsibility of overseeing and managing exposure levels of existing customers.
Communicating effectively and timely with New Business applications/payouts.
Liaise with the accounts department on cash allocations and settlement calculations, when required.
Contribute to the updating of policies, procedures and documentation.
Cross functional working with internal departments such as Recovery Team in identifying Market and client risk factors.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Willingness to learn and be accountable.
Experience of underwriting SME's and assessing 'story credit' new business opportunities.
Flexibility and adaptability in attitude to embrace change within a business growth environment.
Persistence, patience common sense and commercial acumen.
Good organisational, communication and analytical skills.
Sound knowledge of corporate loans (lease, hire purchase would be an advantage), structure and documentation.
Comfortable working with targets and deadlines.
An exposure to digital systems, processes and documentation would be an advantage, strong Excel and Word skills are required to perform this role.
