We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP8, this will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we’ve ever delivered before. To help us achieve these targets we’re looking at doing things differently, for this we are seeking an experienced a Project Commercial Accountant.

To ensure we support our objectives of collaboration across the business whilst providing our workforce with the agility to achieve a healthy work/ life balance, we are asking our staff to have office or site presence on an average of three days a week.

What will you be doing as our new Project Commercial Accountant?

Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor within our Commercial team, you will be responsible for the monthly management, forecasting and reporting of costs and the commercial management of a project or programme of projects from inception through to close out. They will report to a Senior QS or Project Commercial Manager (PCM) within one of the programme delivery areas.

They will also provide commercial and financial support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams and produce monthly analysis of project performance.

Key responsibilities:

· Ensure robust cost management and forecasting is undertaken at all times.

· Provide accurate live forecasting /re-forecasting .

· Ensure actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations.

· Perform m onth end project analysis, forecasting accuracy, performance metrics and analysis into Risk and Opportunity schedule e nsur ing that the information provide d is accurate and reflective of the performance of the project(s).

· Ensure all efficiencies are reflected in the reporting tools provided, to the C lient ’s timeline.

· Provide reports on actual costs v s. estimate & identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, in particular highlight, challenge & resolve variance to latest plans .

· Ensure robust cost management processes are always undertaken with accurate and timely reports, data and analysis on hand to assist in commercial decisions.

· Work in collaboration with the Delivery Team to identify, implement and monitor efficiency plans throughout the lifecycle of the project.

· Ensure proper records (including final accounts) are kept and maintained.

· Collaboratively work with Estimating, and Delivery teams assist ing with project and programme requirements - risk mitigation plans, project estimates.

· Ensure s ubcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements, and final accounts are submitted on a timely basis and that they agree to contractual terms.

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours….

To be successful in this position you will need solid financial experience in a commercial, project or project accounting position.Ideally you will be qualified/part qualified and hold a finance qualification (CIMA, ACCA/ACA), we will also consider applications from individuals who are “qualified by relevant experience”. Detailed understanding of financial forecasting is essential.Should you have experience in the Utilities industry this will make you stand out from the crowd!

You will have the ability to manage pressure, and won’t be phased meeting strict deadlines, and feel comfortable challenging operational management at all levels when the need arises.
