Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Assist with general horticulture, nursery work, grass maintenance and hedge cutting
- Assist with the horticulture's development projects
- Help with the care and maintenance of machinery and tools
- Complete appropriate records as required
- Participate in the College Appraisal Scheme
- Ensure the College Health and Safety policies and regulations are adhered to by all staff and students
- To contribute and promote safeguarding at all times, to ensure the safety and security of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- To comply with the safeguarding policy and procedure in addition to the safeguarding responsibilites within the scope of this role
- Work to promote and contribute to the College's Equal Opportunities Policy
- Undertake other duties as may be reasonably requested of you,
- You will be undertaking training and associated work experience to gain the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required in preparation for sitting the End Point Assessment.
The training you will be getting
- You willl attend Hadlow College one day per week for training and to prepare you with the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required for the Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard End Point Assessment.
- For the horticulture or landscape construction operative, the qualification required is:
- (Core) Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (Ofqual registered) minimum 1-day course
- (Horticulture Operative) Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides OR City and Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides
- (Horticulture Operative) Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticide Using Hand Held Equipment OR City and Guilds Level 2 Award In The Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment
- (Landscaping construction) City and Guilds NPTC Level 2 Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Abrasive Wheel Machines or Lantra Abrasive Wheel Machines Course
- Horticulture or landscape construction operative / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Once qualified this will open doors for you with other employers.
- Progression to a level 3 qualification.
