About the role
Ecclesiastical Insurance , who are proudly part of Benefact Group , are looking for a Underwriting Performance Specialist to join our Gloucester office.
You will manage and improve our underwriting capability through training, underwriting tools, resources, and governance. To ensure underwriting quality is delivered in line with the company’s underwriting philosophy and strategy.

Key responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and use of the UK underwriting academy to ensure underwriters and team managers engage with the framework and make best use of the learning opportunities provided
- Maintenance of the underwriting referral log, including regular analysis to support improvements in underwriting authorities, guidance and processes
- Support and deliver the annual audit programme, ensuring audits are completed within agreed timescales and escalating issues as necessary. Communicate and liaise with all key stakeholders to agree robust and effective audit actions that drive continuous improvement in underwriting quality
- Deliver and support the rollout of the technical training programme, managing the training calendar and supporting other trainers as necessary
- Support maintenance of the Underwriting Hub (underwriting guides) structure and functionality
- Use of data quality tools for data driven quality and governance insight
- Keep up to date with market conditions, practice and legislation and liaise with colleagues to support the identification of future training needs and help develop effective training solutions
- Support defined pieces of work end to end within agreed timescales
- Managing and prioritising own workload effectively
- Supporting the Underwriting Performance Consultants and Underwriting Performance Manager with their role objectives as needed
- Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business
Knowledge, skills and experience
- ACII qualified or progression towards
- Experience of influencing senior stakeholders within underwriting and wider business areas
- Proven ability to coach/train for enhanced performance of others
- Experience of internal audit and understanding of best practice audit principles
- Data analysis experience
- Significant experience within commercial underwriting
