Job description

Principle Automation Engineer

Location: Thousand Oaks CA

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Excellence:

   • Oversee daytoday support Drug Substance operations.
   • Represent the plant automation team in Area WCTs.

2. Leadership and Project Management:

   • Lead a team of Automation engineers handling complex capital construction projects including Global Lifecycle Asset Management (GLAM) projects.
   • Mentor and guide direct reports including External Workers (EWs) ensuring strict adherence to training requirements.
   • Collaborate with key stakeholders for the development of project plans business cases and cost estimates.
   • Work closely with Operations Information Systems (OIS) to estimate manhours and required resources.
   • Represent the Plant Automation team in preparing and implementing detailed design scope and schedule in partnership with Engineering and Global Construction Project Management (GCPM).

3. Automation Implementation:

   • Act as the face of the Plant Automation team during the implementation of new automation solutions involving DeltaV DCS Rockwell PLCs HMIs and SCADA systems.
   • Oversee the operationalization of new assets providing hypercare support training System Owners and Manufacturing teams revising SOPs and training documents delivering spare parts lists and updating asset management systems.

4. Compliance and Standards:

   • Ensure unwavering compliance with Engineering and Operational standards specifications and procedures during project design and implementation.

5. Continuous Improvement:

   • Contribute to functional area projects focused on enhancing process equipment/utilities/facilities.
   • Play a key role in large/sophisticated capital projects to integrate new drug substance and drug product manufacturing technologies.

6. Safety and Compliance Advocacy:

   • Advocate for a safe working environment by complying with all pertinent environmental health/safety practices rules and regulations.

Must Haves

1. Degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Chemical Engineering Biotech Engineering or a related life science engineering field.

2. Expertise in capital project lifecycle management encompassing conceptual design scope development resource estimation cost estimation business case development detailed design engineering commissioning validation and project execution related to Plant Automation and process control systems.

3. Five or more years of combined experience with the following automation systems:

   • Emerson DeltaV DCS system.
   • Rockwell Automation SCADA and PLC Platform.
   • ABB Robot and Mitsubishi roller bottle machine.
   • Electronic Batch Reporting Systems Design and implementation experience.
   • Process Control Network design including network segregation.
   • Virtual Infrastructure design and implementation.
   • System Integration using OPC Foundation Fieldbus Profibus and DeviceNet technologies.
   • Compliance with regulatory requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11 ASTM 2500 S88 S95 and GAMP.
