The Mechanical CAD Design Engineer is part of the Thermal Management Mechanical Design team within the R&D Department, based in Piove di Sacco (PD) - Italy.
Responsibilities & Role Requirements:
- Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team on global products focusing on high performance, cost effective design and market leading innovation.
- To design new products or re-engineer existing ones, with a focus on the mechanical aspects (mainly sheet metal, piping), collaborating with suppliers, Procurement and Industrial Engineering, being aware of the necessary product marketing inputs.
- To create and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material)
- To meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution, achieving the best trade-off between market and internal customer needs
- To analyze and resolve technical problems as regards products under his/her responsibility
- A high level of experienced CAD skill, combined with a good attention to detail
- Availability to travel on request between the Italian HQ (base) and a production facility in Slovakia
Qualifications & Experience
- Technical Diploma or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3-5 years of previous working experience on similar activities, ideally in the HVAC sector
- Excellent knowledge of 3D CAD & PLM systems, Microsoft Office tools, particularly Solid Edge / PTC Creo
- Good knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration principles are desirable but not essential
- English – Intermediate level – Written and spoken
- Know-how of air conditioning/refrigeration products is required
- Competences: result-oriented, team player, careful to details, flexible
Reporting Structure
- This role reports to a Senior Project Manager in the Vertiv Thermal EMEA R&D and Engineering Team
