Job description
Our client in the construction industry is looking to bring on a full time Health and Safety Manager. This person will evaluate safety practices conduct site inspections lead training programs and develop a sitespecific safety program.
This person will sit onsite at their San Ramon office but some travel around the East Bay will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily safety inspection of the job site for hazards and compliance with safety requirements in the specifications and 8 CA Code of Regs
- Implement actions and programs to prevent/reduce the occurrence of emergencies/accidents/incidents.
- Inspect jobsites to ensure Company Safety Program and OSHA compliance
- Document safety inspections at every location where construction activity is active using a construction site safety inspection checklist
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders government agencies and relevant bodies to promote a positive safety culture and stay aligned with industry trends.
- Conducts safety training including new hire safety orientation field safety training for Company and subcontractors and mandatory training
- Develop the sitespecific safety program (SSSP).
- Review work schedules including subcontractors to ensure adequacy of job hazard analyses and address all safety concerns and issues
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in heavy construction safety
- Bachelors Degree highly preferred
- Cal/OSHA 30hour construction training course certification required
- Ability to evaluate construction work activities with respect to safety and loss control
- Must have one of the following certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals: CSP CHST OHST
- This person must also complete first aid and CPR certifications
- Ability to recognize training needs and develop training in safety
- Knowledgeable in emergency procedures related accidents and mitigation.
