Data Science Team Lead

Job Summary: As a Data Science Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing our data science team. You will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven strategies, creating predictive models, and contributing to the overall success of our data science initiatives. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in data science, leadership skills, and a passion for leveraging data to drive decision-making in the education sector.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement data-driven solutions, including building and deploying machine learning models and developing insightful dashboards and reports.
- Recruit build and lead a cohesive team of data scientists and business intelligence analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Manage team performance, delegate tasks effectively, and provide regular feedback and mentorship.
- Develop and maintain project roadmaps, timelines, and budgets for both technical and analytical initiatives.
- Track project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure successful completion of projects.
- Possess strong expertise in both data science (statistical modeling, machine learning, deep learning) and business intelligence (power bi, data warehousing, ETL, reporting tools).
- Translate data insights into actionable recommendations and clearly communicate complex technical and analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various departments including business, marketing, product, operations etc.
- Identify and propose new opportunities to leverage data for strategic decision making and competitive advantage.
- Continuously evaluate and improve both data science and business intelligence processes and infrastructure.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in both fields.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, or related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data science, business intelligence, or a combination of both, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams of data scientists and business intelligence analysts.
- Strong expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, deep learning, data warehousing, ETL, and reporting tools.
- Experience with relevant programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SQL, Spark, Tableau, Power BI.
- Ability to think strategically and translate data insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Previous leadership or management experience leading a team of data scientists, emphasising a results-oriented and business-driven approach.
