JOB PURPOSE: To Coordinate and lead the Disassembly and Assembly Information Documentation Projects and project teams that support the New Product Introduction (NPI) of assigned products, Regular Product Updates/Changes, and SIS feedback tickets, ensuring the completed projects meet the customer expectations with respect to content, accuracy, and timeliness.

JOB DUTIES: This position requires leading the Disassembly and assembly Documentation Projects and workgroup comprised of authors and engineers to complete Disassembly and assembly Information Creation/Development on assigned NPI projects. Also ensures any Product revision requests and SIS feedback are attended to and supported on time. Incumbents are experts in product knowledge and product servicing procedures for assigned products and in the SIS Authoring process. Accountable for ensuring the work group complete the assignment on time, information is technically accurate and complete, servicing procedures have been verified and accepted by dealers/customers as Caterpillar's recommended 'best' method for servicing the product. Works with Product Groups, Other TIS Groups, Dealer Service Tools, dealers, and other Internal business partners to ensure appropriate service strategies are established and service information is provided. Incumbents guide the information development process and assist work group members in gathering information from various sources to ensure service technicians have the information needed to repair company products correctly the first time.

Incumbents Ensure work group members have the project and process knowledge necessary to complete their assignment; mentors work group members; schedules training; May perform functions of Information Element editing or other Editor functions as needed.

Incumbents travel to customer and dealer sites, making frequent contact to observe practical usage of D&A Information, identify improvement opportunities and assure information users are satisfied. Service Information Project Leaders interact with Product Support contacts to ensure SIS2.0 delivers the Disassembly and assembly information called in the NPI Support Plan. Following NPI, incumbents are accountable for updating published documentation, informing other organizations when engineering changes affect their work, and assuring updated information is included in documentation revisions. Coordinates with training instructors to ensure materials produced by the workgroup are prepared properly for use as training material

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: Requires a four-year degree in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering with extensive product and service procedure knowledge. Candidates with 7-9 years of progressive experience in technical information, product group, or design Engineering assignments are preferred. However, significant proven experience within the Service Information Department with demonstrated technical writing and editing skills and expertise in Advanced content management (ACM) tools may be considered for this position. Must be team-oriented, able to master complex technologies (both product and process), have good interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a systems-intensive environment.
