About the Team:

MX series Routers form the backbone of Subscriber services, Edge and Enterprise applications architecture. Powered by the multiple generations of Juniper custom Trio family of chipset, these multi-generation platforms are one of the most feature rich routers in the industry. 

PTX Series Routers form the foundation of the world’s largest WAN and data center architectures. Powered by the latest generation of Juniper’s custom Express family ASICs, they’re cloud-optimized to enable smooth 400G and 800G migrations. They are versatile, high-performance, and sustainable platforms built for longevity in the most demanding environments.

The MX and PTX platforms are also industry leading in terms of speed, feed and scaling performance. They form backbone for both service provider and enterprise customers network.

About the Position:

Juniper is seeking for an experienced MX/PTX Sustaining Sw Engineer to be part of the  Automated WAN Solutions' Platform SW team. The Sustaining Sw Engineer is an escalation technical role that acts as the contact point for customer encountered defects that are escalated by the Juniper Customer Support chain (JTAC or CFTS) or other Juniper customer facing groups as well as Customers themselves. In this role the Sustaining Sw Engineer is expected to handle and resolve the technical escalations on any of the MX and PTX Platform software features, by troubleshooting it, identify and coding the software solution that resolves it.

The candidate must possess proven programming skills and experience in supporting Carrier Grade Internet Network products with a level of confidence that allows him/her to analyse complex technical issues with possibly large Customers impact maintaining focus to identify the problem root cause.

The Sustaining Engineer must have strong team and interpersonal skills and be able to work efficiently with other members of the Juniper Engineering organisation, JTAC organisation, System Engineers and Customers. It is expected to be able to work on tasks independently with no need of supervision. 

Responsibilities:

- Handle the resolution of software issues by being able to do all of the following: analyze the available data being able to identify the relevant one, investigate the technical issue, understand the system path that can cause the issue, do or drive the reproduction in house, describe in detail the issue to the Customer Support chain engineers or customers, identify and develop the software code changes to resolve it. 

- Analyse and reports defects on software to improve conformance, stability and usability. 

- Understand customer network architecture and design and accordingly provide alternative solutions when applicable to achieve greater stability or performance.  

- Provide technical direction to internal teams and customers, as a Subject Matter Expert for the platform supported. 

- Ensure the delivery of a high level of technical support to Customers, directly or via partners. 

- Mentor other Engineers on technics and methodologies of troubleshooting and supporting the MX and PTX Juniper Platforms series.

- Actively suggest and describe solutions to improve the supportability of the MX and PTX Juniper Platforms series. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

A minimum of B.E or BTech from a reputed institution in CS/EE with 8+ years of experience is required.
