Job description
- A traditional media planner will be responsible for identifying which media platforms are best to advertise a clients brand or product
- Experiences within advertising agencies or media planning and buying agencies with the aim of maximizing the impact of advertising campaigns through a range of media platforms like radio, television, Print, Internet, and billboards
Some of the responsibilities of a media manager includes
- Identifying and understanding target audiences
- Determining the most effective media mix for advertising
- Coordinating, monitoring and evaluating media campaigns and strategies
- Undertaking research and analyzing data using specialist industry resources
- Ownership is critical. Need to be responsible for end to end, from understanding the brief, planning, monitoring, tracking and updating client weekly on the reports etc.
- Identifying target audiences and analyzing their characteristics, behavior and media habits
- Presenting proposals, including cost schedules, to clients in a timely manner
- Developing and maintaining good contacts with media owners, such as newspapers, Radio and TV
Some of the qualifications for a media planner include:
- A bachelors degree/MBA in Marketing with 3-4 years of demonstrable experience in a similar role
- knowledge of media channels
- Excellent hold on Microsoft Office includes Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc is very critical.
- Familiarity with campaign evaluation metrics
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Working knowledge of analytics tools (e.g. BARC, Nielsen IMS)
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work with databases and spreadsheets, for the collection and management of information
