Job Overview

As the Head of Accounts, this role involves strategic oversight of the entire accounting function, including compliance, tax strategy, cash flow management, stock analysis, and debtor management. The position demands a high level of expertise, precision, and leadership to steer the financial accuracy and health of the organisation.

It is also important to have the correct processes and system formulated within the department so the team is synchronised and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy, Planning, and Leadership:

Devise comprehensive financial strategies that support and are in line with the organization's long-term aims, ambitions, and overarching vision. Spearhead the processes of financial planning, budget formulation, and forecasting, guaranteeing their coherence with the broader corporate objectives of the firm. Implement robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and clear directives within the finance department to ensure transparent understanding of roles and responsibilities, facilitating adherence to all pertinent internal and external goals and regulatory compliances.

Accounting, Compliance, and Reporting:

Exhibit proficiency in the interpretation and application of both statutory and non-statutory rules, legal stipulations, and internal guidelines, ensuring their effective execution. Possess a thorough understanding of accounting operations and the diligent maintenance of financial records, supervising the preparation and ensuring the precision of financial statements. Manage international operations assiduously while upholding strict legal compliance, particularly with international financial regulations such as FEMA. Oversee the enforcement of accounting standards and remain abreast of any alterations in financial regulations and laws. Ensure rigorous compliance with Registrar of Companies (ROC) filings and corporate affairs regulations to maintain statutory adherence and avoid legal penalties. This includes timely submissions of required documents and adherence to the latest corporate governance norms. Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar with specific deadlines, ensuring flawless execution of compliance-related activities. Calculate operational expenses for various units, sectors, regional teams, and branches, both domestically and internationally.

Tax Management:

Supervise both direct and indirect tax strategy formulation and adherence to tax-related compliance measures. Ensure the prompt and precise filing of tax documents and strategise for tax efficiency to minimise the organisation’s overall tax liability.

Cash Flow Management:

Construct and upkeep detailed cash flow projections, assess discrepancies, and instigate appropriate corrective measures. Administer the organisation’s working capital with an emphasis on enhancing cash flow efficiency.

Stock Analysis and Management:

Direct the analysis of stock, including its valuation, auditing, and subsequent reporting. Guarantee effective inventory management and the optimisation of inventory control procedures.

Debtor and Credit Management:

Manage the collection of accounts receivable and streamline collection operations. Monitor outstanding debtor balances and develop strategies to mitigate credit risk.

Team Management and Development:

Lead the accounting team with a focus on mentoring and professional development. Structure the accounts department to comprehensively cover all facets of accounting, with clearly delineated responsibilities for each team member. Establish a performance matrix to assess the team’s output, setting KPIs and incentives to foster a productive environment. Highly Competent & efficient in operating Oracle Fusion ERP systems to facilitate smooth integration and conduct extensive training for the team to ensure proficient system usage. Encourage ongoing professional development and continuous improvement through structured training programs, thus ensuring the timely and efficient completion of duties.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Compile and present detailed MIS reports on the financial status to the Board, offering valuable financial insights and advice to senior management. Work collaboratively & proactively with various departments to bolster their financial procedures and planning initiatives.

Risk Management and Internal Audit & Controls:

Appraise and manage financial risks in line with industry standards and best practices. Reinforce the framework of internal controls and enhance the financial reporting systems of the organisation. Conduct regular internal audits to assess and verify the accuracy of allocated costs and identify potential savings across various departments. This will ensure fiscal discipline and provide insights for cost optimisation within the organisation & ensure there is no pilferages or leakages.

Required Skill Set

Qualifications :

Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with at least 12 years of experience in a senior

accounting role. Experience in a high-turnover organisation is highly preferred.

Skills :

Deep understanding of financial laws, tax codes, and compliance requirements. Expertise in cash flow forecasting, stock analysis, and debtor management. Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic planning skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft office & Oracle Fusion ERP System
