- Job Summary
Supplier Development Engineer (SDE), based in India, will primarily be responsible for all supplier development related activities with India suppliers including supplier audits, supplier process reviews, QP hold points and witness points, non-conformance management at supplier related to casting / forging process, identification and implementation of supplier development activities, supplier technical capability assessment and enhancement. This role will report into the global sourcing team in India and will be closely working with the category teams, purchasing teams at plant, engineering and project team for project, SQE, sourcing team and all suppliers / potential suppliers in India.
- Principle Duties and Responsibilities (But not limited to)
- Perform Supplier technical audit and audit process management for suppliers. Audits not limited but include sub supplier audits, potential new supplier assessment, cause audits, re-audits, surveillance audits, process audits.
- Represent Celeros to execute hold point, witness point based on ITP at suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives at all suppliers to meet Celeros business targets. Identify development actions at suppliers that lack performance and drive the improvements.
- Drive root cause analysis for casting / forging issues and identify actions needed.
- Drive technical improvement projects at suppliers to reduce cost.
- Lead special qualification requirements with suppliers, working closely with Celeros Category team and Metallurgy, as required (eg. NORSOK)
- Report on monthly basis the audit, development initiatives at suppliers
- Work closely with Category, plant teams and metallurgy teams to drive company-based initiatives related to casting, forging at supplier (eg. API 6D, API 6A requirements)
- Support the selection, development, and management of strategic & preferred suppliers to meet commodity cost and performance goals.
- Work with a continuous improvement mind set and promote continuous improvement at suppliers.
- Report and stop work for any HSE non compliances to Celeros or regulatory requirements.

- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge on castings and forgings process and products
- Strong technical knowledge on metallurgy, special process like heat treatment
- Strong technical knowledge on industry standards like ASTM, ASME, API, NORSOK as applicable to power and energy sectors.
- Knowledge of problem-solving tools like 8D
- Knowledge on use of statistical tools for improvement
- Basic Knowledge of pumps and valves as a product
- Strong business communication skills in English (written, oral and soft)
- Soft skills - computer usage skills - as a minimum, use of Microsoft office apps including ability to create visual PowerPoints / reports for communicating and reporting.
- Strong skills in 2nd party audit
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with suppliers and Celeros leadership team, ability to partner with suppliers and drive improvements.
- Ability to use apply metallurgical knowledge for improvement.
- Ability to work on own and within a team environment.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications in a must.
- Ability to work and understand 3D models is an advantage.
- Ability to converse in Tamil and Hindi is preferred.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is a must, metallurgical engineering preferred (any branch of engineering can be considered), full time 4-year course from a university recognized by UGC of India. Additional qualifications on quality / statistics.
- 10 - 15 years’ work experience minimum with casting and forging experience. Pump or Valve OEM experience would be a plus. Experience must cover demonstration of application of knowledge at supplier end for improvement.
- Audit experience is a must – as a minimum must be a qualified internal auditor for ISO 9001 – 2015, certified by an external agency. Lead Auditor qualification is preferred.
- ASNT Level II certification in MT, PT, RT, UT is preferred.
- Green Belt / Black belt certification is preferred.
