Job Description

Job Title: IT Network Engineer

Role Overview

IT NETWORKS are at the heart of the IT function of any company, enabling all aspects of business interactions between staff, customers, suppliers, and partners. From the largest datacenter to the furthest remote worker, Networks are the key facilitator of data communications throughout an organization. The Senior IT Networks Engineer and IT Networks Engineer roles will be critical in ensuring the whole business maximizes its connectivity, thus allowing its operations to deliver their strategies and objectives.

We are looking for a confident, talented individual to design, implement, support, and maintain LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN, and Firewalls in a global, multi-cultural organization with multiple business verticals. The successful candidate should be very experienced and technically proficient across all areas of network engineering, have the ability to deliver projects within set deadlines, work collaboratively with partners at all levels of the organization, and have the flexibility and humility to want to resolve even the smallest of day-to-day network operational issues. A positive team-oriented attitude is a must.

A thorough knowledge and background of working with Juniper (EX/QFX/SRX/MX series), Fortinet (FortiGate/FortiManager/SDWAN) and Aruba (Wireless/Clearpass) network hardware and software is vital.

Responsibilities

  • Projects:
    • The ability to translate conceptual ideas into feasible, and viable solutions with complete network designs, adhering to and improving established SCS policies and standards.
    • Collate, understand, and document the contextual requirements and related constraints, within existing O365 collaboration toolset (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint) and Visio.
    • Assist in the RFP/RFQ selection process with thorough technical analysis of solution proposals.
    • Take the lead in the planning, management and execution of projects while providing regular and timely updates to all relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved efficiently and within defined timescales while working collaboratively with infrastructure and application teams.
  • Operations:
    • Configuration:
      • Manage the IP addressing plan for Vantiva SCS and related change in router configurations.
      • Produce and implement device configurations from detailed design documents as per the organization's standards (switching, routing, and firewalling).
      • Perform capacity planning and monitoring/resolution of alerts.
    • Change Management:
      • Adhere to the Change Management process, design reviews, and other client interactions to ensure a high degree of satisfaction.
    • Support:
      • Resolve complex network issues / outages & communicate root-cause / remediation plans with all stakeholders.
      • Provide network operational support, within a follow-the-sun framework, for efficient and timely resolutions to issues for multiple regions, including but not limited to weekday and weekend on-call rotations.
      • Coordinate with infrastructure and application teams to validate support approach and adherence to change & incident management processes.
      • Engage with service providers, business partners, and key partners on a consistent basis to ensure service & user experience is delivered as expected.
      • Embrace changes in technologies to help drive the improvement of our current suite of network tools and services, especially through Cloud environments, complementing IT optimizations within the wider organization.
      • Help establish and manage the policies surrounding mobile device deployment and remote application access.
Technical Skills Required

  • MUST have very strong hands-on knowledge and at least 5 years' experience in networking. Demonstrate knowledge of Layer 3 Switching, TCP/IP, IP routing (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), of networking standards (ANSI, IETF, ISO, ITU-T, IEEE, NIST), understanding of peering, MPLS, Metro-Ethernet experience desirable.
  • Proven track record of plan / design / configuration / project management / implementation / documentation of regional and global networks.
  • Strong knowledge of network security configurations, including network segregation, with a view to improving the security aspects of existing and future network implementations. Practical knowledge of hardware and software network security platforms and VPN's.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of Cloud environments (AWS / Azure / GCP minimum) including deployments and the practical nuances between them.
  • Solid experience in troubleshooting issues, including relationship with carriers / vendors / internal customers / external partners.
  • Hands-on experience with routing & switching infrastructures, transport technology, network protocols.
  • Operational knowledge of Juniper (EX / QFX / SRX / MX series), Fortinet (FortiGate / FortiManager / SDWAN) and Aruba (Wireless / Clearpass) devices.
  • Expertise in scripting and automation within a global network environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience with Zscaler, NGINX, SSLVPN, Netbox, SolarWinds, ServiceNow is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Centralized IPT / VoIP / Mobile data is desirable.
  • The ability and ambition to learn and adapt to new technology and concepts quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Capable of producing and discussing PowerPoint presentations to all levels of the organization including non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving traits to approach, diagnose and resolve broad technical issues.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Master's / Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Engineering / Telecoms / Information Technology.
  • Network Certification - Juniper/Cisco/Fortinet/Aruba network products (JNCIA-Junos, JNCIS-ENT, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE and/or Fortinet and Aruba equivalent).
  • Regular participation in training courses, conferences, seminars or other relevant professional development in this area.
  • Background in ITIL, SDLC, or similar process-oriented framework preferred.
