Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a HVPB Systems Principal Engineer Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Scope of Role
As a Principal HV Battery Engineer System Engineer you will responsible for design, product & BMS development, define Test & validation requirements at both component and vehicle level for different markets and verify them. Specific focus on the management of HV electrical Systems integration. You will provide technical expertise in HV Battery and Powertrain.
Area of Responsibility
- Lead the HV Battery System development, product architecture design and product validation including Pack and module level Electro-mechanical design, BMS interfaces and all sub-components
- Manage the above via:
- Design reviews,
- Requirements definition/management
- System Architecture design and benchmarking
- Generate test plans and supplier test plan reviews
- Involvement in systems FMEA's and management of product DFMEA
- System and component feature implementation planning
- Responsible to deliver the System Design Specifications & the Statements of Work for all assigned projects within the HV Battery portfolio.
- Development of HV Battery pack DVP according to international and market relevance standards and norms
- Validate that all products meet the specification requirements and project targets through a documented DVP
- Ensure all requirements are captured and monitored against test results.
- Monitor system issues and assist in firefighting and ensure lessons learned are captured in component/system requirements.
- Assess system HV strategies, develop and propose improvements to vehicle and component level strategies, propose validation and gain buy-in from stakeholders.
- Lead the technical discussions to deliver robust fault free designs through the application of Concurrent Engineering disciplines including DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Campaign Prevention Process, Robustness, etc.
. Agree and sign off the component/system requirements with different stakeholders for each domain based on gateway requirements
. Involvement during vehicle system architecture and strategy discussions to meet vehicle requirements and ensure all functional safety requirements are captured.

Principal level to have advanced knowledge of HV Battery system regulations, validation planning and system architecture. Previous experience of HV Battery, BMS features and functions, power electronics and electronic HW design knowhow is essential to support DVPR reviews
or Significant capability as previous point but have proven leadership ability and capacity to co-ordinate a multidisciplined team within a very challenging, fast paced delivery programme. Must have ability to be extremely flexible, proactive and demonstrable ability to organize and co-ordinate multiple complex issues within short deadlines
Knowledge / Experience
. Strong organisational skills with a good track record of delivering projects on time. It is core to the success of our business that a candidate is motivated to succeed, proactive and accountable and is unafraid to make decisions based on the facts available.
- Working experience with Standards like ECE R100, ISO 26262, ISO 16949 and GBT etc.
- Documentation of DFMEA, DVP, Timing Plans, Minutes and Actions of Meetings.
- Automotive development processes
- Previous experience of OEM or tier one automotive systems.
- Experience using DOORS Systems or any other platform to manage system/components requirements.
. Delivery with FDD methodology - functional flow, physical flow, logic flow
. Strong track record of delivering significant high value business and delivering to very tight timescales
. Driven to delivering high quality projects, on time and budget, beyond customer expectations.
Essential - Degree in Electronics/Electrical, Mechatronics, Software or Automotive Engineering.
- Able to anticipate, translate and develop customer requirements into tangible feature developments
- Expertise in automotive toolchains including Diagnostic Tools, Vector Tools, CANalyzer and CANoe etc.
- Expertise in communication protocols such as CAN/LIN/Flexray etc.
- Expertise in product design, develop & DV at cell, module and battery pack systems
- Working experience with Standards like ECE R100, ISO 26262, ISO 16949 and GBT etc.
- Experience with EE Architecture and the thermal management (component/system).
- Understanding of Vehicle system elements (VCU, OBD and PDU etc.)
- Able to actively participate in system FMEAs and related validation activities.
- Ability to build relationships and influence customers
- Experience of HV Battery, BMS and system development and the related New Product Introduction processes
