Job description

Job Overview: Mayhem Studios is seeking a talented and experienced Technical Animator to join our team. As a Technical Animator, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between art and engineering, ensuring the seamless integration of character animation, technical systems, and gameplay mechanics in our Battle Royale game. You will collaborate closely with artists, and engineers to create dynamic, visually stunning, and technically efficient animations that enhance the player experience.

Responsibilities: Animation Rigging and Setup : Create and maintain animation rigs and systems for characters, props, and environmental elements. Ensure rigs are optimized for performance and functionality within the game engine. Animation Pipeline Development : Collaborate with the animation and engineering teams to develop and refine the animation pipeline. Implement tools and scripts to streamline animation processes, improve efficiency, and maintain consistency. Motion Capture Integration : Oversee the integration of motion capture data into the game engine, ensuring accuracy and quality while troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise. Technical Problem Solving:

Identify and resolve technical challenges related to character animation, including but not limited to skinning, deformations, and character interactions within the game environment. Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with animators, artists, and engineers to understand project requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure a cohesive workflow between different departments. Optimization and Performance : Optimize animation assets and systems for performance across various platforms while maintaining visual fidelity and gameplay responsiveness.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Animation, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proficiency in animation software (Maya, 3ds Max, etc.) and experience with game engines ( Unreal Engine preferred). Strong understanding of animation principles, rigging, skinning, and motion capture. Experience with scripting and programming languages (Python, C#,C++ etc.) for automation and tool development. Previous experience in the gaming industry, preferably working on AAA titles or multiplayer games. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and quality. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
