Design Manager- Public Health Engineering (PHE) & Fire Fighting (FF) Reporting to: AVP, Engineering Design Business: Residential Real Estate Location: Bangalore

We currently have 8 projects with around 4500 custom designed, furnished homes as well as commercial and institutional buildings, covering a total saleable area of approximately 14 million square feet under construction at Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad. Role Purpose Responsible for designing and overseeing the critical PHE & FF systems, ensuring they are efficient, safe, environmentally responsible, and compliant with regulations. Areas of Accountability: Design Development: Partner with architects, Landscape, structural, Mechanical & Electrical experts to develop comprehensive PHE & FF design plans and concepts in line with project demands. Provide detail input to Jr engineer / drafting Engineer for preparation of quality drawings. Monitoring the progress and quality of drawing in Revit and cad till the GFC stage. Prepare a list of requirements / discrepancy in arch / structural drawings Knowledge of PHE & FPS design / NBC/ UPC-I /IS standards. Develop As-Built drawings with in-house team. Preparation of BOQ / estimate / technical specification / approved make along with takeoff sheets Sustainable Design: o Ensure that PHE and FF designs prioritize sustainability, energy efficiency, and minimize environmental impact, aligning with green building principles and regulations. Compliance with Standards: o Ensure that all designs strictly comply with relevant industry standards and codes, including NBC (National Building Code), CPHEEO (Central Public Health and Environmental Engineering Organization), BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) and IGBC (Indian Green Building Council). o Submission of drawings for seeking NOCs from relevant government authorities like firefighting, BWSSB, BBMP, BDA etc. Design Translation and Delivery: o Translate design concepts into detailed drawings suitable for Good For Construction (GFC). o Collaborate closely with draftsmen to facilitate smooth production processes with accuracy. o Deliver GFC drawings within agreed-upon project timelines. Cost Estimation: o Recommend best-in-class specifications for materials and components used in PHE and FF systems. o Prepare a detailed cost estimation with BOQs. Maintenance Assurance: o Ensure designs are practically viable with zero or minimal maintenance issues. o Incorporate sustainable design principles for long-term reliability for the projects. Output Quality Assurance and Control: o Undertake regular inspections at construction sites to verify that designs, recommended materials & components specifications are faithfully translated into execution. o Implement robust quality assurance measures to maintain high construction standards. Documentation and Reporting: o Maintain comprehensive documentation of all design-related activities, changes, and approvals. o Provide routine progress reports to relevant stakeholders. Cross-Functional Collaboration: o Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including architects, structural engineers, and project managers, to seamlessly integrate PHE and FF systems into overall building designs & execution. Continuous Improvement: o Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in PHE and Fire Fighting. o Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and innovation in design methodologies for TE. Safety Compliance: o Ensure that all PHE and Fire Fighting designs prioritize safety in line with relevant safety codes and regulations. Client Satisfaction: o Ensure that the design meets all requirements and preferences ensuring client satisfaction. Deliverables: Assure superior quality- PHE and FF design solutions, to deliver reliable, safe & compliant TE projects. Requirements: 4-8 years of experience in Plumbing, Firefighting, Storm water and Sewage network design in large projects comprising of Villas, tall Residential and Commercial buildings. Design Efficiency: The effectiveness of the engineer in optimizing system designs for quality, functionality & cost-efficiency. Accuracy of Plans: The percentage of design plans that require minimal revisions on or before the construction phase.Job tags
