Plaksha University, located in Mohali, is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR leader to join us as the Head of Human Resources. This leadership role will play a pivotal part in shaping the early years of the University, in driving our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and inclusion. Roles & Responsibilities
A. Drive people strategy, budget and organization design:
- Build people strategy in alignment with leadership team: Curate a vision, long term plans to create a powerful brand.
- Lead Workforce Planning: Manage people budget, plan, and optimize resource allocation in line with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with leadership, including Vice Chancellor and Trustees, to design and iterate organizational structures based on the university's growth stage.
- Manage Payroll ratios and support strategic planning with HR inputs.
B. Develop a talent and training strategy to attract & retain high-quality talent across academic and non-academic teams:
- Cultivate a strong workplace brand by attracting top-tier talent.
- Design and carry out the talent strategy encompassing recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining employees, along with succession planning.
- Collaborate with the Vice Chancellor and Deans to enable recruitment of high-quality faculty, both full-time and visiting.
- Lead end-to-end recruitment of non-academic teams, establishing new channels to attract mission-driven individuals.
- Manage all Academic and Non-Academic contract process.
- Create and implement transparent HR policies & practices to retain and engage talent.
C. Elevate performance management process:
- Drive the process for setting and tracking objectives and key results (OKRs) across non-academic teams and fostering a feedback culture that enables growth.
- Implement a robust 360-degree performance management system for leadership roles and ensure fair and timely appraisals at all levels.
- Cultivate a meritocratic culture and design a rewards and recognition strategy tailored to a university setting.
- Support the Compensation and Benefits Committee with appropriate benchmarking data
- Oversee policies on employee engagement, perks, recognition and wellness programs that aim to increase employee satisfaction, productivity and retention.
D. Ensure a seamless total employee experience from entry to exit. (Policy and Process)
- Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly plans aligned with the institute's vision and values.
- Digitize and automate the end-to-end employee experience, including onboarding, payroll, insurance, benefits, rewards and recognition, grievance redressal, appraisal and compensation management, and learning and development.
E. Be the custodian to drive ESG to the highest standards.
- Collaborate with environmental teams to incorporate sustainability practices into daily operations.
- Integrate sustainability KPIs for every department.
- Work with CSR team to encourage that staff, both academic and non-academic are volunteering time & expertise towards the community.
- Conduct periodic safety and security reviews and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
F. Create unique policies for robust processes:
- Curate unique HR policies that embody Plaksha's mission, while learning from the best of academic and corporate cultures globally.
- Drive key decision-making bodies including the Compensation and Benefits Committee and Appraisal Committee.
- Understand pulse of the people with data-driven approaches, and continuously improve and adapt processes.
G. Drive CREATE values and a mission-driven culture:
- Be the custodian of Plaksha's core values of Curious, Rigorous, Enterprising, Authentic, Thankful, Exemplary (CREATE), and drive its implementation across the HR lifecycle.
- Work closely with leadership to build and continuously reinforce a strong mission-driven culture, in visible and invisible ways.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic, drive, leadership ability, and sensitivity to confidential information. An ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Over 12 years of experience in HR, with a minimum of five years in a leadership role
- A strategic mindset with the ability to envision and implement unique structures and processes that contribute to organizational success
- Ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders across academia and industry, fostering strong relationships and collaborations.
- Strong decision-making and communication skills to navigate complex organizational landscapes.
- Uphold the highest standards of integrity and authenticity, ensuring trust and credibility in all professional interactions.
- Familiarity with academic, and social impact culture is a plus, but not a requirement.
