Key responsibilities and KPIs
Position Overview:
As the Lead of fundraising and donor management of the program you will
play a critical role in leading the program and its partners to achieve financial sustainability and resilience. Your responsibilities will focus on the identification of potential funders for the program and its partners, building capacities of the partners, in the long run, to be able to access these partnerships and sustain them,
and in the short run supporting them in reviewing proposals and supporting them through the grant- making process. A significant time will be spent in supporting the program partners (small NGOs) and in building their capacity. Your contributions will be instrumental in strengthening grassroots organizations and fostering a more resilient civil society in India.
Fundraising Strategy and Support
A. With Program Partners-
i. Needs Assessment and Customized Engagement: Assess fundraising needs and baseline capacity and co-develop the customized fundraising support for each partner. This includes in-person assessment and a baseline of current documentation (proposals,
reports, and plans)
ii. Customized Fundraising Plan: Identify the fundraising plan with key interventions and
activities prioritized for each partner in a timebound manner.
iii. Design and deliver the fundraising support modules: for each partner by deeply
understanding and engaging with the partner’s operations and work on the ground.
iv. Establishing fundraising and donor management operations (through coaching) at each partner office: Supporting the hiring of FR managers, building an FR culture, and providing monthly coaching to the young members of their teams on FR, donor management, and effective communication. Review of reports and supporting due diligence documentation.
v. Fundraising capacity building workshops and training sessions: across the cohort through joint training sessions led and managed in consultation with the rest of the core team under the FR portfolio
vi. Develop tools and templates (such as JDs, Pitches, List of donors, Proposal, and Budget templates) to streamline the above processes for partners
vii. Facilitation and guidance on Institutional and corporate fundraising: Identification of grant opportunities, Networking and Solicitation of potential donors, review of proposals and budgets; and guidance on due diligence processes
viii. Facilitation and guidance on crowd-funding: Registration of partners on crowd-funding platforms and applications on campaigns
ix. Facilitation and guidance on HNI fundraising: Identification, solicitation, and development of the relationship between HNIs and partners
x. Facilitation and guidance on payroll giving: Identification of local corporate office and
networking and solicitation, preparation of partners for pitching
B.Within Program:
i. Building FR repository: Create a repository of fundraising collateral, resources, tools, and templates for future use (FR tracker and planner, formats, modules, and process
documentation)
ii. Core fundraising and donor management: Lead fundraising outreach and relationship
building with program donors
iii. Strategy and Growth: Contribute to strategic planning and development of the fundraising strategy and operations for program
iv. Knowledge Creation, training and development: Create knowledge products including but not limited to modules, resource materials, to support the larger civil society. Design, and assist in delivering FR workshops and training sessions. Identify training needs within the team and provide opportunities for professional development. Offer workshops, seminars, and resources to enhance their fundraising skills and keep them updated on emerging trends and best practices
v. Financial Planning: Supporting the core team on financial planning and budgeting for each partner
vi. Needs assessment: Supporting the core team in due diligence and needs assessment from a documentation and fundraising perspective
vii. Donor Reports: Extracting learnings and outcomes of fundraising engagements with the partners and preparing impact reports for the program donors, stakeholders, and team.
Learning & Innovation
i. To identify the strategic growth and expansion of the fundraising portfolio as a chief strategy for
institutional strengthening under program's domain
ii. To develop technological tools and infrastructure to support the FR portfolio.
iii. Exploring innovative ideas and strategies to raise funds
Post Graduate in Social Work/ Development Studies/ Marketing or any other related field
6-8 years of experience in directly securing multi-year funding from institutions, family foundations or any other avenues
Enthusiastic, self-starter, and critical thinker with the ability to solve problems
Strong understanding of development aid and experience working with international and national funding agencies
Sound understanding of the institutional giving ecosystem in the country
Robust understanding of human rights work in the country
Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi, both written and verbal
Ability to work with people from varied backgrounds & levels
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; strategic planning is a plus
Good analytical skills to evaluate and execute projects
Proactive in developing relationships with the community/ stakeholders
Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel is a must
Flexibility to travel in-country
