Overview
The Custom Clearance Executive plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth and efficient movement of goods across international borders. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and documentation requirements thereby minimizing delays and ensuring timely delivery of goods to their intended destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage customs clearance processes for import and export shipments.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and documentation requirements.
- Prepare and submit customs clearance documents accurately and timely.
- Communicate with customs authorities shipping companies and other relevant parties to resolve any clearance issues.
- Classify goods according to customs tariff coding and ensure accurate duty and tax calculations.
- Handle customs audits and inspections efficiently.
- Provide guidance and support to internal teams on customs compliance matters.
- Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and trade policies.
- Resolve any discrepancies or disputes related to customs clearance.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to customs clearance processes.
- Collaborate with logistics providers to optimize clearance processes and reduce lead times.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customs clearance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws regulations and company policies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of customs clearance best practices and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in International Business Logistics Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Proven experience in customs clearance import/export operations or related fields.
- Sound knowledge of customs regulations trade compliance and documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in using customs clearance software and related tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and submission.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
- Problemsolving skills and the ability to handle clearance issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with international shipping terms INCO terms and INCUOTERMS.
- Ability to multitask prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Understanding of customs valuation tariff classification and duty optimization.
- Familiarity with customs clearance documentation such as commercial invoices packing lists and bills of lading.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications especially Excel and Word.
- Professional certification in customs brokerage or trade compliance is a plus.
