The Safety Coordinator is responsible to provide operational support to both the Fleet and Office for Safety, Environmental, Compliance and Security related issues in line with the industry standards and legislations (ISM, ISO & ISPS). This involves planning, monitoring, and supporting vessels on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) issues, as well as reviewing the performance of, providing feedback to, and ensuring continual improvement of Fleet vessels. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Support the Safety Department and vessels in maintaining compliance with the Company Management Systems. This includes the Company Safety Management, Environmental Management and Quality Management systems. Assist the Safety Superintendents and DPA/CSO with tasks related to ISM and ISPS code. Assist the DPA and Safety Managers in the scheduling of internal and external audits, as required by ISM/ISPS/ISO standards, and to liaise with 3rd parties for the execution of these audits as directed. Manage the process of collecting, maintaining, and reporting of the Environmental, Safety and Security related KPI’s. Responsible for maintaining and checking the quality of HSSEQ data reported by vessels, including ensuring reports are submitted on time, observation closure is completed. Support the DPA and Safety Director in the preparation of company annual and quarterly reports, including the submission and analysis of KPI and supporting data. Manage the process of the master’s SMS review for allocated Fleet of vessels, assisting the Safety Superintendent and Managers with analysis and reporting, and timely response to vessels. Arrange the 3rd party drug & alcohol testing. To carry out unannounced alcohol tests Assist the company security officer in routine security processes, such as SSAS tests, ship security assessments and ship security drills. Minimum Skills and Experience Requirements Degree in Maritime / Nautical Sciences or other related discipline preferred or An ex-merchant marine officer with minimum 12 months certified sailing experience on a sea going vessel Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar HSSEQ position ashore Good command of written and spoken English Effective communicator and strong interpersonal skill to interact well with all levels of employees on board and ashore Well-organized, adaptable, agility to embrace changes and good problem-solving skills Information collected will be kept confidential and used strictly for recruitment purpose only.Job tags
