Job description
Reporting to: Manager Nursing.
Key result areas:
- To complete 50 IV cannulation practice in dummy arm within 2 months. 2. To gain knowledge in protocols and policies by attending CNE and scoring above 90% in tests. 3. To get trained in ACLS and achieve above 90% in tests conducted. 4. To train the trainee staff nurse in their job responsibilities.
Qualification:
- A Degree/Diploma in Nursing with experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN) in Karnataka Nursing council.
Knowledge:
- Anatomy and physiology of Genito urinary system
- All ward procedures of basic nursing
- ACLS
- Operation of Hospital information system
- Current infection control practices
- Admission and discharge process
Skills:
- Phlebotomy
- Patient care process
- Observation of patient response to treatments.
- Skill to make decision and organize accordingly.
- Communication with patients and internal team.
Exclusive Job responsibilities: 1. Come to the hospital in a neat and tidy way.
- Follow hospital policies and maintain the core values.
- Ensure that hospital attender is available and educate them on infection control measures to be taken.
- Maintain a good interpersonal relationship with staffs and other members of the department.
- Ensure that the OT patients are prepared for the surgery, consent sign from doctors, relatives and patients
- Make sure the side marking done. 7. Follow the pre-op orders as well as SCD application, blood arrangement and etc
- Maintaining registers like Autoclave / ETO things movement book, Replacement book, Laundry book, MRD book, stock inventory book, Billing book, pharmacy refund book, etc.
- Ensure canteen forms are maintained every day. 10. Ensure that the billing sheets are updated in the system on time and avoid errors. 11. Maintain staff log/drug information book
- Supervise juniors while performing procedures and make sure that they follow the protocols of the hospital.
- Pack the used procedure trays and label it by name, department, date and name of staff who packed.
- Wash and dry the items which need to be ETO sterilized. 15. Send the trays and items for autoclave/ETO respectively. 16. Perform Glucometer kit calibration monthly.
- If any death occurs fulfill the formalities and report it to ICU staff to maintain death register and inform the nursing manager immediately.
- Ensure disinfection of equipments, surfaces, cot, mattress, linen etc after each discharge/death.
- Accompany with nursing manager in ward rounds.
- Report incidents in ward to the ward in charge and then nursing manager.
- Attend the ward meetings and convey the discussed points to the ward staff regarding the meetings.
- If any needle stick injury occurs, take preventive measure as possible and also fill the form, which we are kept in the ward then report to in charge, ICN nurse the nursing manager immediately with the necessary documents.
- Do the assigned duties which have given by ward in charge. 24. Read protocols.
- Gain Knowledge in HMIS, QIKWELL & ESS.
- Fixing appointment for discharged patient.
- Make sure the Lab., Radiology requisition forms and explaining the patient when to get it done after discharge.
Supervision:
- Check the cleanliness of ward. 2. Check the working condition of equipment. 3. Maintain inventory.
Participation:
- Attend discussion meet conducted by Nursing manager. 2. Attend unit meeting conducted by ward In-charges. 3. Attend CNE/ workshops/ training programs. 4. Attend cannulation practice. 5. Accompany with doctors and nursing manager for ward rounds.
