Job description
This role comprises of People Management and the overall operations of the organizations server infrastructure. This includes development, deployment, upgrade, maintenance, support, and optimization of key functional areas, such as the Cloud, Data Center, Windows & Linux Servers, Storage, and other infrastructure. The IT Manager - Server Team will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. This position will play a key role contributing to the current and future strategic technology direction across General Mills global locations. A primary focus for this management position will be to provide leadership for day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure. In addition, this role will be responsible for the operational excellence of the team, including RCA/Problem Management, Change Management, Event Management, SLAs, production support, standards, tools, and best practices for the technology organization.
The candidate must be a strong technology leader and exhibit the ability to perform on strategic and transformational level with other management team members across the organization.
Role Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to team for the safe and reliable operations of infrastructure systems.
Provide hands-on project management for strategic department-wide initiatives, inclusive of technology selection, effort, timeline, resource allocation, system engineering, RFP/SOW, vendor management, solution delivery, and implementation.
Ability to execute & deliver technology solutions.
Strong technical and functional knowledge of servers, virtualization.
Oversee Infrastructure operations support for initial response to disruptions, outages, and incidents.
Implement RCA/Problem Management, Change Management, Event Management, SLAs, production support, standards, and best practices for the technology organization.
Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures.
Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and management.
Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with peer and senior management.
Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all in-scope infrastructure systems.
Work with peer Infrastructure and IT Managers to provide input into the Cloud & Infrastructure vision and strategic roadmap for server and data platforms in public cloud.
Provide organizational and cultural change leadership and change management.
Build data protection backup strategy.
Design, implement and maintain tools and solution for business continuity & disaster management.
Experience with working in global teams to support enterprise systems.
Must - have technical skills and experience
Experience working with infrastructure as code such as Terraform or equivalent.
Migration, maintenance and administration of public cloud environment and developing/writing scripts using advanced DevOps languages such as Python, PowerShell.
Experience with concepts, processes & tools required for cloud adoption including cloud security, governance, and integration.
Knowledge of Virtualization Platforms with experience of understanding of specific products like VMware ESXi.
Knowledge of Storage and Backup devices like Brocade SAN, IBM Block Storage, NetApps, NetBackup etc.
Knowledge of Configuration tools like SaltStack, Satellite etc.
Working knowledge on DevOps, Agile development processes, exploration and POCs.
Good to have skills
Good understanding of Cloud Platforms.
Knowledge of IT Audits.
Experience in Automation using Python.
