Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to join our fast-growing software start-up. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing our talented team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software products that meet the needs of our customers. Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to align engineering goals with overall business objectives.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.
• Develop and execute project plans, ensuring successful delivery of software products on time and within budget.
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and best practices within the engineering team.
• Drive the adoption and implementation of cloud computing best practices, including DevOps, infrastructure as code, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Architect, design, and develop microservices-based applications that are scalable, resilient, and high-performing.
• Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js and backend services using Java, Go, or Python.
• Design, optimize, and manage databases (SQL, NoSQL) to support microservices architecture and ensure data integrity and efficiency. Implement RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services as necessary to support application functionality.
• Monitor and analyse cloud infrastructure performance, capacity, and costs, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement, and implement security and compliance requirements.
• Recruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent, while nurturing a diverse and inclusive team culture.
• Work closely with teams across geographies, both in requirements collection and feature development

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 12+ years of Software Development/Engineering experience
• 3+years of Engineering Management experience
• Strong hands-on backend experience, software engineering principles and practices, with a focus on microservices architecture.
• Basic familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. , expertise in backend development using languages such as Node.js, Python, Go, or Java, database technologies including SQL and NoSQL databases, and RESTful APIs.
• Strong technical background in cloud computing, with hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, and configuration management tools like Ansible or Chef and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration frameworks.
• Understanding of security best practices and techniques for securing microservices-based applications.
• Excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle, and Agile / DevOps software engineering models, an Agile & DevOps evangelist who can help mature the organization and proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
