About this role
About the Team:
We are seeking a senior business leader within our Finance Platform Strategies (“FPS”) team to lead elements of our technology platform efforts on a global basis and oversee and expand the team’s footprint in our India offices. The role will be based in one of BlackRock’s two large hubs in India, with a preference for Mumbai and optionality for Gurgaon. The role will report directly to the Global Head of Finance Platform Strategies (based in New York).
The FPS team, within BlackRock’s global Finance & Strategy organization, is responsible for long-term management of Finance platform and technology initiatives, spanning controllers, financial planning, expense management, treasury, tax and a range of other proprietary and third-party platform capabilities.
The group drives the strategic vision for and implementation of initiatives to enhance our platform capabilities, and delivers day-to-day oversight and management of the platform. The team works closely with partners across the Finance organization and BlackRock’s Aladdin Engineering team.
Core responsibilities will include:
Serving as a leader within Finance Platform Strategies, helping to drive our global platform and technology and team talent strategy and leading additional initiatives in partnership with other FPS teams and leaders. Global lead for Finance data strategy, responsible for:
Sourcing: sourcing proprietary and shared data sources needed to deliver on the firm’s financial operating platform commitments, and deepen the level of analytics and insight provided to stakeholders across BlackRock
Housing: In coordination with the firms global EDP strategy implementing an enterprise data platform to house Finance’s data in a unified, well-structured, and well-permissioned framework
Delivery: ensuring data availability for the range of ways in which it will be consumed by internal and external users, including dashboarding, AI-driven self-service capabilities, and pipes into downstream Finance platforms
Talent: leading and managing a global team of Finance data experts and driving the long-term talent and resourcing plan for this area of FPS
Process transformation, partnering with our Finance Operations teams globally, building a process transformation center of excellence in India and partnering closely with our existing Budapest-based process automation leader to identify and execute upon opportunities to drive productivity and uplift work FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) tech and platform strategy – partnering with FPS teams in the US, and working with FP&A leadership in India and globally, to define and implement the future operating model for FP&A analytics and insights
The individual will be one of the senior leaders within the ~150-person Finance & Strategy team in India, providing leadership, mentorship and coaching to our teams there. The individual will directly oversee our India-based FPS team and future resourcing strategy, and serve as a member of the Finance & Strategy India Executive Committee.

Deploying a wide range of financial applications, analytical and automation tools, and proprietary solutions
Advocating and advancing, best practice process and controls, covering the data and applications within our Finance ecosystem,
Understanding corporate operating procedures, identifying functional gaps, and working with Finance leadership to close such gaps,
Partnering with Finance senior leadership in the region & FPS leads globally to help shape APAC Finance platform strategy
Building consensus to influence Finance leadership in support of critical business projects & priorities through presentation of clear business use case analysis
Deeply understanding Finance operating processes and steering a culture of innovation and process automation
Providing timely ongoing project communications in a concise and direct manner to keep key stakeholders informed
Key experience desired:
Passion for technology, process and platform improvement dedicated through prior leadership positions and educational background
Experience implementing process automation and machine learning capabilities within a corporate function environment
Strong working knowledge of the capabilities of generative AI and a vision for use cases to drive insights and productivity within a corporate functional environment
Exposure to Oracle SaaS platform
Experience with enterprise reporting and dashboarding tools such as Power BI, and with ETL tools such as Informatica
Experience overseeing day-to-day tier one support for Finance applications
Understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL) and OLAP tech
