Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead QA (Quality Assurance) professional with experience in prepress or typesetting, particularly within the realm of books and journals. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of relevant experience and a proven track record of effectively leading teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage a team of QA specialists, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
2. Develop and implement QA processes and procedures specific to prepress and typesetting workflows.
3. Conduct thorough quality checks on prepress materials, including layout, formatting, typography, and image placement.
4. Collaborate closely with production teams to identify and resolve any issues related to prepress or typesetting.
5. Provide training and guidance to team members on QA best practices and industry standards.
6. Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations.
7. Continuously assess and improve QA methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
8. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in prepress and typesetting technologies.
9. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
10. Handle any escalated QA issues and provide timely resolutions.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum of 4 years of experience in QA, preferably with a focus on prepress or typesetting.
3. Strong understanding of book and journal production processes.
4. Proficiency in industry-standard prepress and typesetting software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress).
5. Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in layout and design.
6. Experience leading and mentoring teams, with strong leadership and communication skills.
7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
9. Familiarity with printing technologies and specifications.
10. Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices is a plus.
