Purpose of the position
Due to the expansion in the SCV programs with addition of new products in ICE & EV, to cater the development requirements of steering system additional manpower is required.

Dimensions of the position
Direct Reportee - Nil.
Role Control - Individual Contributor

Personal Profile
Education B Tech /M Tech in Mechanical/ Automobile Engineering.
Skills 1. Advanced Skill level required in Pro E software for 3D part modelling, assembly & drafting of 2D drawing and CAE analysis.
2. Knowledge in Electric power steering system and system sizing and electric components selection
3. Strong Knowledge in PLM design release process , DFEMA , GD&T and theoretical calculation for i) Steering effort prediction, ii) Linkage buckling strength calculation, iii)Turning circle diameter & Ackerman error calculation.
4. Strong knowledge in New product development process - From concept design to commercialization stage.
5. Hands on experience in using various problem solving tools. Knowledge in manufacturing process of Sheet metal, Casting & Plastic components.
6. Knowledge in part level & vehicle level testing of steering system aggregates
7. Knowledge in other vehicle aggregates such as Suspension, Brakes & Chassis frame
8. Good presentation and communication skills.

Job Responsibility

1 Concept development for steering system as per product/ DMU inputs
2 Perform basic design calculations based on product inputs
3 Drafting & Detailing of steering components and Preparing product bill of materials & release in PLM (Team centre)
4 Digital validation of Steering system components, Moving skeleton preparation to check for DMU clearance with nearby aggregates
5 Co-ordination with all testing team for part validation and issue closure
6 Interaction with suppliers & co-ordinate for part development and validation
7 Bench Marking for Product Improvement and cost reduction & resolving IPTV issues with root cause analysis
8 Co-ordination with Plant CFT team for resolving Manufacturing & Assembly issues
9 DFMEA preparation and design rule updation
10 Preparation of RFQ and selection of suppliers based on the requirements. To conduct technical review with supplier for sourcing plan. ie technical negotiation for deviations and schedule.
