The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU)
The Intensive Care Registrar will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and compassionate patient care
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:Provide direct medical care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit
Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, and other advanced interventions
Collaboration:Work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, and consultants, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences
Documentation:Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients under care
Document patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
Education and Training:Provide guidance and supervision to junior medical staff, residents, and medical students
Stay current with advancements in critical care medicine through continuous education and training
Quality Improvement:Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in the ICU, participating in audits, research, and implementing evidence-based practices
Collaborate with the quality improvement team to enhance patient outcomes and safety
Emergency Response:Respond to emergencies within the ICU and provide immediate medical intervention as needed
Collaborate with the rapid response team and code blue team
Qualifications:Medical degree from an accredited institution
Completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine or Anesthesia
Registration with the medical board and eligibility for licensure
Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
Strong clinical skills with a focus on critical care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
