Job description
Directs the activities of a team/shift of production workers (typically semi-skilled) so that established production targets, including volume, cost and quality measures are safely met. Focuses on weekly activities, and giving daily assignments to small-medium sized team.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: - Ensure safe & compliant operations in shift
- Conduct toolbox talks & safety briefings in each shift
- Drive housekeeping & 5S implementation in the plant; manage the team of housekeeping contractors and allocate manpower for efficient utilization
- Authorize Permit-to-Work after validating that all safeguards are in place
- Carry out Job Safety Analysis (JSA) along with maintenance team for all hazardous maintenance jobs
- Ensure compliance to all safety policies, rules & standards by each person in shift
- Report all incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions
- In case of emergency, act as Emergency Controller
- Participate in incident investigations
- Responsible for achieving targets in the shift as per plan
- Coordinate between Production, Maintenance, Quality and other functions to maximize output in the shift
- Troubleshoot issues arising in shifts to ensure minimum impact on safety & delivery
- Lead, manage & guide the team in shift during routine as well as non-routine operations
- Record production performance, downtime and other key data and report at the end of each shift
- Coordinate all shutdown activities as per plan
- Coordinate any planned trials in the shift
- Ensure equipment changeover, interlock checking, preventive maintenance as per plan
- Ensure compliance with ISO (Q, E, H&S) standards as per certification requirements
- Review SOP, HIRA, EAI, P&ID on regular basis
