Why this job matters

At the heart of the digital transformation there is big shift in focus from projects and activities to products and outcomes. The Product Owner is key for this shift, a set of empowered individuals living and breathing the ideation, definition and delivery of digital products for business customers (internal / external).

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, marketing, and data analytics, to define the web analytics data assets roadmap and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality web analytics solutions. You will leverage your deep understanding of web analytics, industry best practices, and customer needs to shape the future of our analytics offerings and help shape and improve Digital as a Channel across all BT's business segments and product offerings.

As the liaison between the development team and user community/stakeholders, the Senior Product Owner is responsible for driving the development and optimization of the web analytics platform and related data assets that will enable the Digital as a Channel team continuously monitor the performance of digital channels through various metrics and analytics tools allowing the Trading, CRO and SEO teams to make informed decisions, identify trends, derive meaningful conclusions, improve the visibility and ranking of the company's digital assets on search engines.

The Senior Product Owner is expected to have,

Data Analysis Tools: Proficiency in tools such as Python/R for data analysis, SQL for database querying, and data visualization libraries like Matplotlib or Tableau.

Machine Learning Concepts: Understanding of machine learning concepts including supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, and deployment.

AI Frameworks: Familiarity with popular AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn for building and deploying machine learning models.

Big Data Technologies: Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Apache Kafka for handling large volumes of data efficiently.

Data Engineering: Understanding of data engineering principles including data pipelines, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data warehousing.

Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform for deploying and managing data and AI solutions.

Statistical Analysis: Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques such as hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and time series forecasting.

Natural Language Processing (NLP): Knowledge of NLP techniques and libraries such as NLTK, spaCy, or transformers for text data processing and analysis.

Deep Learning: Understanding of deep learning concepts including neural networks, convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and recurrent neural networks (RNNs).

Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems like Git for managing codebase and collaboration with development teams.

API Integration: Ability to integrate with third-party APIs for accessing external data sources or services to enhance product functionality.

Data Security: Understanding of data security best practices and techniques for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data in AI applications.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, data science, CRO, SEO and other cross-functional teams to define data product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure timely and successful product delivery.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data web analytics products, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders, customers, and partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics and web technologies, and apply them to enhance our product offerings.
  • Develop and execute the product strategy and roadmap for our data web analytics products, aligning with the company's overall vision and business goals and providing 360 view of web performance for Digital and Marketing teams
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and gather customer feedback to identify market trends, customer needs, and opportunities for product enhancements.
  • Define a product that will track key metrics to measure digital and marketing performance and therefore allow accurate measurement of their initiatives, using data insight provided by the product you are own to drive decision-making.

  • Work closely with sales, marketing, CRO and SEO teams to develop attribution models, pricing models, and product launch plans to drive product adoption and revenue growth.

The skills you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum of 5 years as a product owner/manager experience, with a focus on data, web analytics, SEO analytics, web technologies, and/or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of web analytics concepts, data sources, data modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Expertise with industry-standard web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or similar platforms.
  • Experience in delivering conversion rate optimisation and search engine optimisation solutions.
  • Deep understanding of the different levels of maturity when building marketing attribution models.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering data-focused products, from ideation to launch.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and product enhancements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations, such as GDPR or CCPA, is a plus.
  • Certification in product management (e.g., Pragmatic Marketing, Certified Scrum Product Owner) is a plus.

Other skills beneficial for the role are:

  • Bachelor/Masters of Science in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field and Master of Science or Business Administration degrees PREFERRED
  • Product owner certification (MTP / General Assembly / PSPO / CSPO PREFFERED)

Experience you'd be expected to have

  • Experience with e-commerce analytics, including tracking product performance, shopping cart abandonment analysis, and optimizing the online purchase.
  • Familiarity with tag management systems (TMS) and experience in efficiently managing and deploying tracking tags across websites and digital assets.
  • A solid understanding of digital marketing channels, including SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and how they impact website performance and user behavior.
  • Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Proven expertise in CRO strategies, A/B testing, and optimizing user experiences to increase website conversions and achieve business objectives.
